We are currently recruiting a student for an Assistant Manager to work under the guidance of the current organization members (Event Planner, Project Managers, Communication Specialist, WebDesigner, etc) for organizing our summer event(s) in the Richmond Hill municipality.
ORCA’s sole mission is to enhance the sense of community among Romanian-Canadians living or working within Ontario through the support of local businesses and members.
ORCA (Ontario Romanian Canadian Association http://www.2012orca.org/ ) believes that it can accomplish significant change when the whole community works together, focusing all of the community’s varied resources towards improving our community’s quality of life. This is an exciting time to be a part of ORCA. We are currently recruiting a student for an Assistant Manager to work under the guidance of the current organization members (Event Planner, Project Managers, Communication Specialist, WebDesigner, etc) for organizing our summer event(s) in the Richmond Hill municipality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Participate in the planning of the community summer event(s)
– Contact community members and promote the event(s)
– Contact event sponsors
– Secretarial duties during meetings
– Maintain event information on social media and on organization website
– Participate in the preparation and distribution of the promotional materials for the event
– Assist in solving the logistics of the event
– Be part of the organizing team during the event and assist members of the community participating in the event with various issues
– Participate in evaluating and in doing the bookkeeping of the events costs
– Provide support and information to newcomers in the community (Romanian landed immigrants and other categories)
REQUIREMENTS:
– You have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis next year.
– You are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act5.
– You are a high school graduate and under 30 years of age.
– You are you legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
– High school graduation plus recognized post-secondary credit course work up to 6 months
– Your field of study is Business Administration, Business Economics, Project Management, Computers, Social media and Communications
– 1 previous work-related reference
– Strong communication in both written and spoken English
– Great interpersonal skills
– Computer-savvy
– Good organizational skills
– Attention to detail
